Stunning plants that come in an array of brightly coloured ‘swords’ surrounded by rosettes that contain absorbent hairs and scales which act like biological blotting paper, enabling the plant to absorb water and nutrients. Being epiphytes, Vreisea are best mounted to the background or décor.

Flaming Swords require bright, indirect light and a warm environment between 16-27c. Being tropical plants, they benefit from high humidity. A light mist daily will keep your Vreise looking its best. Most of the water and nutrients these plants require are absorbed by the leaves in the centre of the leaf whorl, where it forms a natural bowl. This central cup needs to be regularly filled with water, which will happen naturally with spray systems. The occasional dead insect dropping will decompose to provide nutrients.
