The Colombian giant red leg was once a hobby staple and is now gaining popularity once more. This is one of the most beautiful tarantulas in the hobby, owing to its size and vibrant colouration. This New World tarantula is more skittish than defensive so it is more suited to Intermediate level keepers due to its temperament. This species is endemic to Colombia and is found usually in tropical forest areas.
They are a hardy tarantula and amazingly easy to keep. A standard terrestrial enclosure with coco fibre, a hide and a water bowl are sufficient for keeping this tarantula. Try to keep the substrate slightly moist but not too wet, humidity should ideally be around 60-70% with ambient temperatures of between 22c-26c.
Slings and juveniles will be a little reclusive but it will be a more prominent display Tarantula once sub adult/adult.
