Dypsis Lutescens is an easy to care for plant, similar to Chamaedora Elegans, that tolerates a wide array of habitats but does require regular watering. Originally native to Madagascar, it is a great option for Day Geckos and Chameleons. Dypsis is a very hardy plant, making it an excellent choice vivarium plant as it is able to tolerate a wide variety of temperatures, humidity and light levels. A great option for arboreal species as this plant can grow to substantial heights.
Although high humidity isn’t a necessity, if the humidity drops too low this can causes the leaf tips to turn brown. Ideal temperatures are 16-24C and sudden drops in temperatures can also be an issue, causing brown spots on the leaves. The key to a healthy plant is not overwatering and ensuring adequate drainage, as overwatering will quickly result in deterioration.
